Understanding Acupuncture as a Complementary Therapy for Women’s Health
The Role of Acupuncture:
As a board-certified OB/GYN, I am frequently asked about complementary therapies. For women seeking integrative care, acupuncture is the first therapy I think of. It is increasingly used in women’s health. From a Western medical perspective, acupuncture is thought to influence the nervous system, blood flow, and hormonal regulation, which play a key role in many women’s health conditions. It does not replace conventional care, but it can significantly help patients with pain, stress, sleep concerns, menopausal symptoms, menstrual irregularities, and infertility.
Recommended Practitioner:
Dr. Hui Huang, DACM, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M., Ph.D., a licensed acupuncturist in California, is the first practitioner I confidently refer to my patients. She offers a comprehensive, systematic approach integrating acupuncture with Moxibustion, Cupping, Guasha, Asian Tuina(Massage), Plant-based Aromatherapy, Breathing exercise, and Meditation, along with individualized lifestyle and nutrition guidance and even more. Her practice supports women’s health through a rigorous, evidence-based integration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and she works collaboratively with Western medical care. I have observed meaningful and differential outcomes in patients who have not benefited from conventional approaches alone.
